Berndt Stübner, born in Leipzig in 1947, studied at Deutsche Hochschule für Filmkunst Babelsberg. He worked at Hans Otto Theater Potsdam, Theater Magdeburg, Theater Chemnitz, Schauspiel Köln, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and Schauspiel Leipzig, where he was a company member for 37 years. Furthermore, he worked as an acting teacher from 1974 to 2004 and received the Art Award of the City of Leipzig in 1989.
He worked with directors including Werner Freese, Prof. Fritz Bennewitz, Prof. Karl Kayser, Karl-Georg Kayser, Hans-Michael Richter, Herbert König, Enrico Lübbe, Konstanze Lauterbach, Lutz Graf, Volker Lösch, Tilman Gersch, Boris von Poser, Pierre Walter Politz, Robert Schuster, Peter Kastenmüller, Torsten Duit, Armin Petras, Karin Henkel, Andrej Turnheim, Michael Thalheimer, Sebastian Hartmann and Robert Borgmann.
Berndt Stübner continues to write and direct plays for children; he builds puppets and is active in film and television.
