Andreas Herrmann
Andreas Herrmann was born in Annaberg-Buchholz in 1953. As a boy, he sang in Dresden’s Kreuzchor and he later studied acting at the “Hans Otto” Theatre Academy in Leipzig. He worked at the Stralsund theatre from 1977 to 1979 and was a member of the acting company in Karl-Marx-Stadt for ten years afterwards. This was followed by an engagement at Volkstheater Rostock from 1989 to 1991 and at Freie Kammerspiele Magdeburg. After ten years as an actor at Bremer Theater, he joined Hans Otto Theater Potsdam for a period of five years from 2004 to 2009, before becoming a freelance actor. Andreas Herrmann has worked with directors like Frank Castorf, Manfred Karge, Konstanze Lauterbach and Thomas Bischoff. His most important roles include Mephistopheles in Goethe’s “Faust”, Molière’s Don Juan, Büchner’s Woyzeck, Brecht’s Arturo Ui, Goldoni’s Truffaldino and “Charley’s Aunt” in the eponymous play by Brandon Thomas. He has furthermore performed in numerous audio plays as well as film and television productions and taught as a guest docent at the Rostock University of Music and Drama.
