Julia Nussbaumer
Julia Nussbaumer, born in Basel, studied Scenography at the Zurich University of the Arts from 2009 to 2014 and Set Design at the Vienna University of Applied Arts. This was followed by engagements as a set and costume design assistant at Theater in der Josefstadt Vienna and at the Young Opera of Staatstheater Stuttgart. Since 2016, she has been working as a freelance designer with directors including Pia Richter, Bonn Park, Clara Weyde and Anne Verena Freybott. During her long-standing collaboration with Pia Richter, they created productions like “Effi Briest”, “Die Verwandlung (The Metamorphosis)” and “Mutter Courage (Mother Courage)” at Landestheater Schwaben and “Erschlagt die Armen” at Landestheater Tübingen. Together with Bonn Park, she created the world premieres of “Das Knurren der Milchstraße” at Theater Bielefeld, “Das Deutschland” at ETA Hoffmann Theater Bamberg (invited to the festivals Radikal jung and Mülheimer Theatertage) and “Yugoyugoslavia” at Beogradsko dramsko pozorište / Belgrade Theatre. In 2018, Julia Nussbaum began studying Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
