We’re delighted to announce: The New Year’s Eve programme and party are back! Many have asked and requested it, and now it’s time: We will spend the last few hours of the departing year at Schauspiel Leipzig with grand theatre on the Main Stage, several different buffets, live music and dancing into the New Year!
Yasmina Reza’s maliciously witty comedy “Der Gott des Gemetzels (The God of Carnage)” is not only a classic of the modern canon, but also a classic of our repertory. On New Year’s Eve 2025, we will celebrate the show’s 60th performance. As two sets of parents arguing about how to raise their children, Bettina Schmidt, Anne Cathrin Buhtz, Dirk Lange and Michael Pempelforth will once again demolish the living room and the lives of their characters with their both uniquely funny and precise dynamics.
The performance will be framed by several different buffets in the Schauspielhaus’ foyers – and by plenty of live music, featuring the theatre’s band and a DJ. Catering will be provided by ENK Leipzig.
