Don’t we all know how it is? With spinning heads, torn by heartache, we toss and turn at night, and after plumping up our pillow for the umpteenth time, an image arises before our inner eye: the image of a perfect relationship. And then we remember the many people who had such a relationship before us, or still have it: John Lennon and Yoko Ono, for example, or Elizabeth Bennet and Mr Darcy or Angela Merkel and Joachim Sauer or Caesar and Cleopatra or – oh, never mind. Because it’s always other people who have these perfect relationships and never us. And of course, we know that these are just images, unattainable ideals that only get in our way. But there is something about them that has a hold on us. Maybe it’s possible after all, maybe we just have to want it enough, try a little harder, never lose hope. But how? And what exactly are we hoping for?

Together with texts by Liv Strömquist and Ada Berger, the characters set out on a quest for the “one true love” and everything that goes with it. It will lead them through the ups and downs of couple relationships, ideals turning into horror scenarios and vice versa. And finally, they end up in the complicated and unfathomable world of emotions.
With an equally witty and critical glance, director Ellen Neuser created a show that features pop-cultural references, improvised relationship dramas and hopeful views of the future, and will return to the ag(o)ra once again in the new season.
