Theatre for young audiences
AMAZONEN
Equipped with Lego figures, landscape models, live video and protest images from the internet, a storyteller sets out to trace an ancient myth: once upon a time, a group of free women lived, worked and fought on the shores of the Black Sea. They founded a community without men and called themselves Amazons. How did this come about? And why did the male heroes of antiquity react so aggressively to it? A contemporary staging of this story for children between the ages of six and twelve takes place on stage. Without adult supervision, AMAZONS initiates an open conversation among peers on central issues of our time: Is it justified to use violence to defend oneself against external attacks? How far can or should we go to defend our own opinions and protest against (gender) injustices? Who are the Amazons of our time? And what does all this have to do with the Amazon?
