SOUND OF US

For most of its members, ChorAlle is above all an opportunity to spend time together, to exchange ideas, to support and have fun with each other. It is a place for encounters that can be created by everyone together – some contribute more, some a little less. Depending on their comfort zone and form of each individual day. ChorAlle is a group of people from Leipzig with different life realities, affiliations, mother tongues and perspectives. But once a week, they unite in following a melody, a rhythm and the conducting movements of their choir leader. They sing in various languages, always with an accent. They sing, narrate, drum, whisper and hum. About happiness. About trouble. About homesickness and wanderlust. About unequal power relations. Together, they celebrate and grieve and take heart. Directed by Aïsha Konaté and in cooperation with professional musicians, they create a musical story whose sound is shaped by many-layered experiences, memories, thoughts and dreams.

ChorAlle was founded in Leipzig in 2022. This amateur choir sees itself as a safe space, mainly for BIPoC and singing enthusiasts with an international biography. In 2024, ChorAlle made their brilliant debut at Residenz in the context of Gob Squad’s production “Handle with Care”.
