Daten sind auch nur Menschen
Performative AR-Walk by STUDIO URBANISTAN and Atelier Polza
Leipzig is brimful of our digital legacy. As a (future) “Smart City”, it scurries and shimmers with promise and visions: more sustainable, more efficient, safer, more democratic, and friendlier. A city as a digital system, where structures and processes are easier to control, capture in real time and plan in the long term. Whether it is the water scarcity of the city’s trees, minimisation of traffic jams or the capture of parking spaces, whether it is a happy place to shop or the automatic identification of petty criminals (or their accidental twins) – the possibilities are endless. And in the middle of it all are WE, or at least the data that we leave behind every day.
What visions of urban coexistence are being designed? Do opportunities or risks outweigh each other? Which players are playing what kinds of games exactly? And what is the game that you play?
Equipped with smart phones and headsets, and with the help of AR-technology (augmented reality), the audience will experience the blending of the real environment with digital content.
The city walk “Daten sind auch nur Menschen (Data are only human, too)” looks at the data processing behind the analog “reality” and sets out to find the utopias and the limits of a digital city and its society.
