Wahnsinn — A (Live) Podcast
Diederik Peeters (Brüssel) / Artists in Residence
A project by Diederik Peeters in close collaboration with François Pérache, Marion Le Guerroué, Sabine Zovoghian, Thibault Le Marec
Mr. G. is convinced that his wife has been replaced by an alien impostor. He suffers from Capgras syndrome. Mrs. V. is haunted by one and the same person who constantly transforms and takes on the appearance of the neighbor, the baker, a passerby on the street. She suffers from the Fregoli syndrome. And there is Mr. P., who suffers from double syndrome and believes that several of his doubles are leading their own lives.
Using psychiatric and neurological research, Diederik Peeters questions our relationship to normativity and reality. His research is guided by the notion of a radically inclusive society. This research process takes place over several years, and will result in the production of a new theatre performance in 2025.
As a first step, Peeters produces “Wahnsinn - A Live Podcast” in which some of the stories and ideas gathered during the research are shared in a sometimes surreal kind of docu-fiction.
Diederik Peeters holds a master's degree in fine arts from Ghent. He performs in various international theatre, dance and film productions. His works oscillate between performance and installation and are shown in both theatre and exhibition contexts. He produced the piece "Apparitions" at Residenz in 2019.
