Claudia Bauer

Claudia Bauer headed Theaterhaus Jena from 1999-2004 and was director-in-residence at Neues Theater Halle together with Enrico Lübbe from 2005-2007. She became renowned for her work at theatres including Staatstheater Stuttgart, Münchner Kammerspiele, Volksbühne Berlin, Schauspiel Leipzig, Theater Magdeburg and Staatstheater Schwerin. She has directed several world premieres such as “Seymour oder Ich bin nur aus Versehen hier” by Anne Lepper at Schauspiel Hannover (a commission by Berliner Festspiele’s Stückemarkt in 2011), which was presented at the Autorentheatertage at Deutsches Theater Berlin in 2012. She directed the German premiere of Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s “Welt am Draht” at Schauspiel Dortmund and “Tarzan” at Puppentheater Halle together with Rainald Grebe, René Marik, Tilla Kratochwil and others.
Claudia Bauer has been director-in-residence at Schauspiel Leipzig since 2015/16. At the theatre’s Diskothek-venue, she staged the world premieres of “Und dann” by Wolfram Höll (which was invited to the 2014 Mülheimer Theatertage – Stücke, to the Autorentheatertage at Deutsches Theater Berlin and to the Heidelberg Stückemarkt) and “Die Ermüdeten” by Bernhard Studlar. After “Metropolis”, “89/90” was her second production on the Main Stage and was invited to the 2017 Berlin Theatertreffen.
